Chelsea Pensioner Colin Thackery will be in the city later this year, in aid of some very special causes.

The show's 2019 champion is on the bill for a Carol Concert at Salisbury Cathedral.

That's being held on Friday 20th December at 7.30pm.

It's in aid of ABF The Soldiers' Charity, who support current serving troops and their families, as well as veterans throughout their lives, and the Downton based Help for Heroes, supporting wounded, injured and sick military personnel.

The event was last held a couple of years ago and raised thousands for the charity.

It's aimed at bringing together the community to celebrate the festive season, and the contributions our Armed Forces make.

As well as Colin Thackery, there's some brilliant other acts on the bill:

Salisbury Cathedral Carol Concert December 2019
The proceeds from the concert will be split evenly between ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Help for Heroes

Three piece vocal harmony group, Blake, will be performing a mix of classical and pop Christmas classics.

They've sold more than a million albums since forming, and made more than 150 TV appearances around the world.

The Help for Heroes Choir, which was formerly called the Invictus Games Choir, is also due to perform.

They were set up ahead of the second Invictus Games event, by renowned choirmaster Gareth Malone, for a BBC TV documentary.

The Band of the Rifles will also be involved in the concert - they've performed with Britain's Got Talent's Colin Thackery before:

Readings are planned throughout the concert too - from people including Lord Jeffrey Archer.

Seats at the concert are expected to sell out, with prices ranging from £10 to £35.

The cheapest tickets are for unreserved seating, with others for reserved spaces within the nave and transepts of the building.

They're available via the Wiltshire Creative website.
