Salisbury Splendour meet continues with eight races on the card today (Thurs 17th August).

The popular Salisbury Splendour meet continues today (Thursday 17th August).

Yesterday saw 20 year old apprentice Hollie Doyle win the biggest race of her career.

Riding the Richard Hannon trained Billesdon Bess, Hollie scooped the feature race, the £50,000 EBF Upavon Fillies' Stakes.

The course tweeted about that result:

The pair had already won over the course and distance at Salisbury earlier in the Summer before notching up a good win at Goodwood.

Meanwhile jockey Ryan Moore had a double with Rogue in the second division of the  novice stakes before winning the Pembroke Cup Handicap on board Surrey Hope.

Marcus Tregoning, based at Whitsbury near Fordingbridge won the opener with Exceedingly Diva whilst the The Queen's runner, Strategist, finished fourth.

It promises to be a bumper day with EIGHT races on the card including Salisbury's most valuable race of the season.

The Sovereign Stakes is a Group 3 race held over a mile with more than £42,000 to the winner.

High-class winners in recent years include Kodi Bear and Zonderland.

Top jockey Frankie Dettori will be on board Hathal whilst local trainer Richard Hannon saddles Tabarrak.

It's also Salisbury's most valuable race day with more than £135,000 of prize money.

Gates open at midday (12.00pm) with the going currently good to firm, good in places.

Accompanied children aged 17 or under get in FREE and there's lots of additional facilities including face painting.
