There were a couple of wins and a couple of losses for our teams this weekend (Jan 27th).

Salisbury FC's winning streak came to an end yesterday (Saturday January 27th) in scrappy conditions at the Ray Mac.

The Whites welcomed Barnstaple Town for a game in front of 603 fans.

Steve Claridge's side came in this game off the back of 7 league wins in a row and a strong push for promotion in the Southern League Division One West.

But on 60 minutes, the visitors took the lead and saw Salisbury lose their first game since the beginning of December.

Depsite that result, the Whites remain 2nd in the table and will take on Yate Town next Saturday in a home match.

In the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division, it was a frustrating day for our local teams.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins had their game called off because of weather conditions and remain 14th in the table because of that.

Amesbury Town has an awful time at Bournemouth Poppies - going down 4-0 to them, keeping them 21st in the table.

In Division One, it was much better - Downton won 3-2 over Fawley at home to leave them in 11th place.

The league tweeted about the goal-scorers in that one:

For Laverstock and Ford, it took a penalty to seal their victory over US Portsmouth away from home:

That was scored by Adam Bourner and leaves the side up in 4th in the table.

Salisbury's fall from form continued this weekend with a 15 - 32 loss to Oxfordshire side Witney at Castle Road.

That leaves the green and whites in 7th place in the South West League 1 East.
