The Whites put two goals past the away team who sit two leagues above.

Salisbury FC will now go through to the second round of the competition - and a successful run could see them ending up at Wembley.

After two attempts at the fixture, with the previous ones being cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, the Whites finally got their go at the competition.

They welcomed Braintree Town to the Ray Mac, a side who play in the National League.

Salisbury looked dominant throughout the game, scoring their first goal in within 26 minutes.

Darren Mullings put them ahead with a ball into the corner of the opposition's net.

Braintree were quick to come back, with a goal in the 29th minute.

Mullings secured the victory with another brace in the 68th minute, putting the Whites through to the next round.

Salisbury FC now face Carshalton Athletic, a Isthmian League Premier Division team, away this Saturday (12th January).
